The Conservative Alliance was instrumental in getting Lori Chavez-Deremer elected. The only time in 34 years Oregon had a second republican congressperson (since mail-in voting).  We walked 5000 houses, put field signs around the county, yard signs, did a lot of education on the new congressional district, had a couple meet and greets. Republicans were not doing much at all (as usual).  

 The machinists union was on strike and had pickets along HWY 20, union people came into the office and advised us that most rank-and-file union workers were MAGA and we should not cede any ground to the democratic candidate.  So we took a couple dozen donuts and went out to the picket line and hung out for a couple hours. We sent some of the pictures to our contacts in the campaign HQ -- they were pretty happy about that. So ... same old story though, Lori ran to the right, got elected by the right, then shifted to center-left. 

 Several issues really pissed-off local conservatives and she lost their support.  In 2024 we hoped she would win but did not have the conservative support and energy that time around.  As usual, she could not out-democrat the democrats and lost. She was able to "fail-up" and is now the Secretary of Labor.  Randi Wiengarten AFT union head and Elizabeth Warren said she was ok by them and they could work with her.  Anyway, it no-doubt started with the Conservative Alliance members going to the Union Picket line in 2022 -- ha ha
